About me

 

Juan Carlos “Juancar” Uris, born in Madrid in 1985, is a professional drummer and educator currently based in Luton, UK. Initially self-taught, he began studying drums formally in 2014 with renowned drummer and educator Iñigo Iribarne, Director of “Clases de Batería at Madrid” Music School. Throughout his career, Juancar has balanced his work between Spain and the UK, building a reputation as a versatile performer, dedicated educator, and skilled session drummer.

Educator

​

Juancar has extensive experience as a drum educator in both Spain and the UK. In Madrid, he worked as a drum tutor for: • The Artist (Yamaha Music School) • Ayensa • Grupo Talia (San Chinarro Music School) Since relocating to the UK in 2015, he has continued his teaching career, including: • The Music Dept. (St Albans, 2016–2018) • The Music Gym (Watford 2022-2023) Rockschool Exams. • The Rock Project (Harpenden, St Albans, Welwyn Garden City, all in 2021) and Session Manager from 2023 at Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard and Buckingham) • Milton Keynes Music Academy (since 2023) Rockschool Exams. In 2023, Juancar founded his own music school, The Music Experience, where he teaches drums and prepares students for Rockschool exams. All his students consistently achieve Merit and Distinction results.

Performer & Session Drummer

 

Between 2015 and 2018, Juancar performed regularly as the house drummer at Jazz After Dark in Soho, London, and between 2018 to 2020 was touring across Spain.

​

Since 2020, he has been based permanently in the UK, leading his own function band “Ripple Effect Party Band,” performing over 100 gigs per year at weddings, private events, and festivals, while also continuing to work as a session drummer for other bands and artists.

 

As a session drummer, he has worked with a wide range of artists both live and in studio sessions:

Juancar has performed as a live drummer on the Spanish national TV show “T con T” (TVE), accompanying renowned artists including: Camela, Amaia Montero, Bustamante, Javi Cantero & More…

Drum Specialist

Juancar has worked closely with Istanbul Mehmet Cymbals as a cymbal specialist at the Musikmesse music fair in Frankfurt, representing the brand annually at their booth. He is recognised for his deep knowledge of drum materials (woods, metals) and expertise in drum servicing, tuning, and restoration.
